Artificial Intelligence (AI) can be simply understood as the use of computers to achieve and replace the work traditionally done with human resources. We need to provide computers with corresponding algorithms to allow them to classify and analyze data sets, and then obtain the predictions we need from them. Certainly, we need to keep processing the data, so that the computer can continue to learn new data and make more accurate predictions over time as it builds up its data base. And just like humans, AI itself is not perfect, at least not in current technology.
Many people may wonder how AI different from normal computer programs. To put it simply, a normal computer program defines all the scenarios that the developer wants to use and gives the corresponding solutions, and the user is limited to the scope of use defined by the developer. For AI, it "trains" a program for a particular task and allows the program to explore and improve itself.
|Artificial Intelligence Needs Constant Learning
A good AI can "figure out and solve" situations that it is not familiar with or has not been exposed to. Just like the Office software we use, it can't improve itself, but for a face recognition software, it can continue to refine its work of recognizing faces over time as the program is run and the number of face images it comes into contact with increases.
In fact, in our daily life, we are exposed to different kinds of AI, such as automated work, voice recognition in customer service calls, social networking sites, self-driving cars, and even the algorithms of today's most popular Netflix-recommended movies.
Nevertheless, the best AI in the current state of the technology are not yet comparable to the real human brain in some fields and situations. Although AI is intended to imitate the operation mode of the human brain, it can only perform well in a specific area or scope. In short, the human brain can be applied to almost everything, whereas AI can only be applied to specific areas. But in the future, AI will undoubtedly continue to improve in an exponential way, at least that's what most people believe.
